By Field Level Media Oct 07 (Field Level Media) New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov will be sidelined six to eight months after sustaining a torn ACL in his right knee, the team announced Wednesday. Romanov sustained the injury during a collision with Mika Zibanejad in the third period of the Islanders 5-2 setback to the New York Rangers on Tuesday. He owns a plus-2 rating without a point in three games this season. Romanov, 26, sat out the bulk of last season after undergoing surgery on his shoulder following an injury in a game against the Dallas Stars on Nov. 18. He has totaled 84 points (17 goals, 67 assists) in 372 career games with the Montreal Canadiens (2020-22) and Islanders. He was selected by the Canadiens in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
